The U.S. Border Patrol announced yesterday that the number of illegal aliens released into the US fell from 62,000 under President Biden in May 2024 to zero in May 2025 under Dictator Trump. Predictably, the Trump administration is taking credit. But not so fast, there are multiple reasons for this. One, of course, is climate change. Another is that under Trump, illegal aliens, or guests as we called them, no longer want to come to the United States. Why would you want to emigrate to a country if you have no money and the host will not provide free airfare, hotel accommodations, three (ethnically-correct) meals per day, spending cash, and healthcare? You might as well stay home. I have never been to Australia, mostly due to the cost. If Australia all of a sudden sent me vouchers for an all-expenses paid vacation, I would probably go. If they then fired the guy who came up with the program and eliminated it, I would probably not go back again. Does that make the new guy some border control guru? No. He would just be some bureaucrat who decided to hit his numbers by making his country a place that is less attractive to visit. There is no genius in that. The risk here is that Trump is making America such an unpopular destination for undocumented migrants to move to that the next Democrat administration will have to pay illegal aliens to come. And that will increase the federal deficit. Way to go, Donald.
