In times like this, I like to quote then-juvenile, climate warrior Greta Thunberg: “How Dare You!” I was on the phone last week with my Uncle Sinclair, and he notified me that his Medicaid was cut off by Trump, Musk, and that misnamed Big Beautiful Bill. I never thought I would see the day when the government would cut Americans and illegal aliens off from their free government-provided healthcare, but that is exactly what the evil Trump has done. My uncle was distraught. He had called weeks prior in panic mode when he heard that they were considering instituting $35 co-pays. “Outrageous!” he kept calling it. Then he read that to get his free Medicaid, which really wasn’t free if you include the “outrageous” co-pays, he would have to work at a part-time job at least. A job? There is no chance my Uncle Sinclair was going to work a job. He had not worked in decades, and where would he find the time? Just maintaining his home and grounds takes up most of his time, he shouted at me. He said there was no way in Hell he was going to get a job just to pay for health insurance if it comes with $35 co-pays. He later relented and considered getting a job for a day in order to qualify, but then learned that Medicaid would now require him to apply not once, but twice, a year to qualify for free healthcare. Who has that kind of free time? Certainly not workers like him. He finally started to calm down by the time the bill was being debated on the House floor. To get educated on the details, he committed himself to listening to all of Hakeem Jeffries’ remarks. If you think he was mad about the co-pays, imagine how he felt watching that speech? He slept the entire next day and woke up the following afternoon to learn that he no longer qualified for Medicaid. Those bastards disqualified owners of real estate with a net worth exceeding $1 million! I bet his neighbors were hearing his expletives up and down the beach. It was bad enough that they cut off the Medicaid of his illegal alien maid, but to cut him off, a full-blooded American with no salary, no W-2 income, and a beach house to support, is unconscionable. The Bidens would never have done that to either of them. As always, Trump is only looking to help the rich. He sees 35 million Americans in poverty and 70 million on Medicaid, and decided to DOGE the uninsured under the guise of reducing waste, fraud, and abuse. Poor, poor Uncle Sinclair. I told him we would not take this abuse. We will “fight, fight, fight” by finding a tax loophole, just as we always do. After some consideration, I told him that if his net equity in the real estate were reduced to under $1 million, possibly through a partial gifting, he could qualify for Medicaid again. I am relieved to report that my Uncle Sinclair once again qualifies for Medicaid, landed a part-time graphic artist job for an all-text elite columnist, and we are now co-owners of a big, beautiful beach house.
